Who I Am

Teaching guitar is my passion. I teach guitar to a vast range of ages and abilities from beginner all the way to grade 8.

My teaching style places a firm emphasis on the fundamentals of music learning: technique, rhythm, reading and musical knowledge. I believe this can give every guitar player a wonderful tool that they can then develop and grow into a fuller understanding and relationship with music.

For this I draw on my long history of both teaching, writing, and recording as well as playing in countless bands over the years. I lost count somewhere around 12. I am also a multi instrumentalist and play drums and piano. I also think I can sing but this has been disputed.

One of my passionate beliefs is that music can give anyone an incredible sense of self worth and validation. Something external to their everyday world that can help them learn to define themselves as a person. The look of joy on a learner’s face when they achieve something musical for the first time is always wonderful.

The guitar is me, and my second favourite thing after playing it is sharing that joy.
